Hamburger Buns

Have you ever had a burger on a freshly baked bun? It is life changing! You absolutely need to try this easy recipe to create soft luscious buns in less than 2 hours.

Using a stand mixer makes the process very quick but the mixing and kneading can be done by hand as well.

Ingredients:

3 1/2 cups all purpose flour
2 1/2 tablespoons dry yeast
1/2 cup warm water
1/2 cup warm milk
1 large egg
1/4 cup softened butter
1 1/2 teaspoon salt
For topping:
1 egg
1 tablespoon water
Sesame seeds

 

Place flour sugar and yeast in the bowl of a stand mixer and mix until combined.

With the dough hook attached, add the water, milk, egg and butter.
Mix on low speed until dough comes together. If the dough feels too sticky add more flour.
Mix for a few minutes then add salt and continue mixing for another 5 minutes on low speed.
The dough should be soft and slightly sticky.

Drop dough on a slightly floured surface and knead a few times by hand,

Place the dough in an oiled bowl. Cover and let rest until doubled in size about 1 or 2 hours.

When dough has risen, divide it into 8 portions.
You can weigh the dough and divide approximately each into the same portion into the same size.
Form each portion into a ball. Arrange on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and let rest
until doubled in size, about another 60 minutes.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Prepare the egg wash by mixing one egg and one tablespoon of water and gently brush
the tops of each roll with this. Sprinkle with sesame seeds.
Bake for about 20 minutes or until golden.
